Purple shiso, also known as purple perilla, is an aromatic plant rich in vitamins and minerals. Koishiso, which means "I think I'm falling in love", is made from red shiso grown in Kumamoto, specially blended with a unique formulation of Sengetsu rice shochu that best matches the shiso flavor, to create a truly elegant liqueur.
This liquor beautiful pink color is extracted naturally from shiso, allowing Koishisou to be produced without any added preservatives, colorants or fragrances. With an alcohol content of 7%, this liqueur is very easy to drink.
Red Shiso is also listed as a medicinal plant and is frequently used as an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antispasmodic.
Its flavor notes are complex, both herbaceous and tangy, with hints of basil, hibiscus, acerola, red cherry and lemon balm. Tangy notes are very refreshing. You can enjoy Koishisou chilled, on the rocks or over crushed ice, diluted with sparkling water or even over vanilla ice cream.

DISTILLERIE SENGETSUSince its foundation, its "Tôji" (master distillers) have worked exclusively for their distillery, which was rare at the time. Sengetsu Shuzo produces new generations of Tôji from their young distillers. Current 6th generation of Tôji continue to perpetuate original methods passed down to them. Importantly, the 3rd generation Tôji, Toyoka Sosogi, was awarded the title of "Contemporary Master Craftsman", the highest distinction for those working in the industry. It was the first time anyone in the shochu industry had received it. He developed techniques inherited from the distillery's founder, which today form Sengetsu Shuzo foundation.
As flagship brand, Sengetsu, is a shochu with a rich aroma and mellow taste that evokes thin crescent moon over Hitoyoshi Castle, and is particularly popular in the region. Rice used to make it comes exclusively from carefully cultivated local fields.
