Kochi Vegan Premium Yuzu Ponzu
Ref : NISYZ30
Yuzu is undoubtedly Japan's most iconic citrus fruit, combining green mandarin and citron aromas and flavors . It is rich in vitamin C, beta-carotene, and hesperidin, which have strong antioxidant properties, and offers various health benefits, such as disease and aging prevention, fatigue relief, and improved blood circulation.
Its fragrant components, such as limonene, are known to have an excellent relaxing effect. Word “ponzu” translates as “squeezed sour orange juice” in Japanese. Word comes from the Dutch “pons,” meaning “punch,” which later became ponsu, a “drink made from mixed ingredients.” Finally, the suffix “su” was replaced by “zu,” meaning “vinegar.” Ponzu is a Japanese condiment sauce usually made from soy sauce or tamari, citrus juice, mirin, katsuobushi (bonito flakes), kombu, and rice vinegar.
Version of ponzu offered here is vegan and does not contain dried katsuobushi bonito. Flavors are fresh and tangy. Ponzu is very popular as a condiment for sashimi, gyoza, shabu shabu, meat or fish tataki, grilled meat and fish, cold somen noodles, tempura, meat or fish carpaccio, meat or fish tartare, and more.
