Ref : NISGTKD
Gin was the first Western spirit to be produced in Japan, introduced by the Dutch trading enclave of Dejima Island, Nagasaki Bay, during the Edo period (1603-1867).
First distillation trials took place in 1812, with the appellation gin. Although juniper is at the heart of gin-making, it is complemented by other plants, barks, seeds, spices, fruits...
In Japan, over thirty distilleries produce quality gins based on specific flavors: cedar, sansho, yuzu, bamboo, tea, various citrus fruits, shiso... Kobe yama gin is the first gin from Kobe distillery.
YAMA means mountain. This refreshing gin is traditional in style, with generous citrus and herbal notes and a lively, piquant finish. Botanical bouquet features mountain plants from the Kobe region, such as Arima Sansho, green tea leaves from Kobe Shizukaen (Kobe's only tea plantation), juniper berry, green shiso, camphor wood and yuzu. Refreshing top note is yuzu citrus, followed by shiso and sweet green tea flavors. Finish gives way to the spiciness and liveliness of Arima sansho, followed juniper berries and camphor layered flavors.
This remarkable gin can be enjoyed neat or as a gin and tonic.
