Founded in 1893, Sasaki Shuzo brews its sake in “Rakuchu,” in the heart of Kyoto's historic city center. Of the 300 or so original breweries, it is the only one remaining in this district.
Kyoto's exceptional topography and abundance of water were the main reasons why sake was brewed in Kyoto and why Kyoto was designated as the capital for 1,000 years.
This beautifully crafted, complex sake offers a lovely minerality.
The nose is fresh, with accents of white fruit, peach, apricot, flowers, and great elegance.
The palate is surprising, a veritable parade of yellow fruit. The whole is enveloping, with notes of yellow fruit compote, a touch of acidity, and a hint of ash.
