Important notes regarding the use, care, and storage of raw wood cutting boards. Before use
• We recommend soaking the product in water at 70°C-80°C for about 30 minutes and drying it in the shade before first use. Soaking for too long may cause cracks during drying. Please be careful. Do not dry the product in direct sunlight, as this may cause warping and cracking. Please be careful.
• Drying with an air conditioner or hair dryer may cause cracking or warping.
• Due to the low moisture content of the wood, there is a risk of cracking or warping due to expansion and contraction caused by sudden changes in temperature.
• After use, it is important to wash the product with a soft sponge and dry it in a well-ventilated place away from light.
Care and storage
• Never use a dishwasher or dish dryer.
• Store wooden items in a well-ventilated environment to prevent moisture buildup.
• If resin appears, soak the item in warm water and wipe it with strong alcohol.
If the smell of wood bothers you
• Washing with warm water mixed with sake can help reduce the smell. If the item darkens with use
• Unvarnished wooden products cannot retain their original color and luster.
• Darkening is due to the quality of the water and its mineral content. French water is hard, so changes may occur more quickly than in Japan.
• It is possible to whiten it with lemon juice.
These professional cutting boards are made of Hinoki wood (Chamaecyparis Obtusa) from Kôchi and manufactured in the Prefecture of Kôchi, from Hinoki raised exclusively in Kôchi forests, mostly Shimanto.
Hinoki is a softwood with antimicrobial and antifungal action.
It respects the point, the blade, the edge of the kitchen knives.
It is water resistant and will not go down easily.
Our tips for a good use and to preserve your board :
- Always put your board on a flat surface
- Using a soft cloth, lightly moisten the board before using
Warning :
- Never wash your board in the dishwasher
- Always wash both sides after use.
- Never use aggressive detergent to wash it (bleach ...). Do not soak it with detergent for a long time. These can cause blackening or cracks, etc.
- Never let the board soak in water
