Fukkurinko is a rice variety developed in Southern part of Hokkaido island, which is characterized by its sweet, savory taste, soft texture, appetizing shine and good stickiness.

To guarantee its taste and quality, its production areas are limited to part of Sorachi and southern Hokkaido, regions best suited to growing this cultivar.
Cultivated in rice paddies, it benefits from sustainable agriculture. The use of nitrogen fertilizers is reduced, thus lowering the protein content of the rice and making it even more tender and flavorful.
Hokkaido is a famous rice-growing region in Japan, ranking among the top nationally in terms of planted area and production volume.
According to Japanese people, it is essential for tasty rice to be full-bodied, soft, sweet and fragrant. Fukkurinko rice quality has been recognized by professional organizations, receiving the top grade of "Special A" for several years in the annual rice grading established by Japan Grain Inspection Association.
Experts evaluate rice in six aspects : appearance, fragrance/aroma, taste, stickiness, hardness and overall grade, and only rice types that excel in all these aspects are awarded a "Special A" grade.
